Legends of the 715: Ben Loomis

With the 2022 Winter Olympics starting up, it’s a perfect time to highlight a 715 athlete who is competing in these Olympics and that’s Ben Loomis.

Loomis is an Eau Claire native and for this years Olympic games, he will be competing in the Nordic Combined.

Loomis isn’t a stranger to the Winter Olympics and competing at the highest level. He participated in the Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang in 2018 where he placed 10th (team large hill/4x5km), 40th (large hill/10km individual), 41st (normal hill/10 km individual).

Some of his other accolades include: Participating in the World Championships in 2017, 2019, and 2021. He also competed in the 2016 Youth Olympics. Plus, he was named the 2016 USSA Nordic Combined Athlete of the Year.

Heading into the Olympics, Loomis is ranked as the top American within the Nordic Combined World Cup Standings.

So when you’re tuning in to this years Winter Olympics, make sure you’re paying close attention to this legend of the 715!
