Legends of the 715: Jake McCabe

The Stanley Cup Playoffs have officially started, so it’s a perfect time to highlight one of the many hockey legends to come from the 715. This week, we’re highlighting Jake McCabe.

Jake McCabe was born in Eau Claire and went to Eau Claire Memorial high school After high school, he attended college at UW-Madison and was a member of the men’s hockey team.

He was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres with the 44th overall pick in the 2012 draft and made his NHL debut in 2014. He was a member of the Buffalo Sabres up until the 2021-22 season when he signed a free agent contract with the Chicago Blackhawks, who he currently plays for.

The 715 area has a vast and rich history of many talented hockey players and Jake McCabe is just one of many of these players to come from our area!
