Double Scoop Sundae/Lana’s Scoops

I love learning about dessert places that had never previously crossed my radar, yet suddenly appear right in front of me. Appropriately, the day I discovered Lana’s Scoops, I was checking the radar — a lot.

This was Friday, July 28th, and I was in my first day as MC of the Big Brake Stage at OneFest in Chippewa Falls. We were under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch, and as I kept checking the radar on my phone to see if anything was coming, I noticed strong storms filling in to St. Croix County and coming our way. That same day, I first saw the Lana’s Scoops food truck not far from that side stage; before the storms hit, I had to try the ice cream from Lana’s. Of course, it was great.

Two scoops of waffle bowl sundae goodness.

They’re based in Withee; having that truck allows them to get over to the Eau Claire area. A hot, sticky day like that Friday was the perfect sort of day to get their ice cream. On offer was a double scoop sundae in a waffle cone; they use Cedar Crest Ice Cream, and I chose the winner of the 2023 Cedar Crest Ice Cream 4-H Flavor Creation Contest: Cow Chip (vanilla ice cream, caramel swirl, chocolate-covered pretzels, and bits of fudge). I asked for the works to be added — including chocolate, nuts, whipped cream, and a maraschino cherry on the top — and told them I was going to greatly enjoy it. And, I did.

Keep up with their Facebook page to see where their truck is heading during the warm weather months; if you’re driving past or near Withee, stop by their permanent location just north of 29. It’s ice cream, it’s tasty — and it should be on your radar, like, now.
