Traveling For Events As A Hairstylist And MUA To Bailey, Colorado

Hey everyone! I am Meg Ann lee. This week on the blog I am taking you with me while I travel to work a wedding in Colorado.

I’ve been doing hair and makeup for weddings for years as a secondary part of my career and I love it.

I recently traveled to Bailey, Colorado to work a vow exchange ceremony doing hair, makeup, and photography.

First mistake I made was booking a “cheap” flight through Frontier. Thinking of flying Frontier? Expect a delay, even a cancellation and high baggage prices. Honestly, #deltagirly from now on.

After a flight cancellation and rebooking I was on my way at 4:30am!

Second mistake I made was not knowing TSA didn’t open until 4am even for early morning flights. The kiosk made sure to let me know I was too early to tag my bag even though I was boarding in 30min.

I landed, grabbed my luggage, rented my car and was on my way into the mountains by 7:30am!

Traveling To Work Events As A H/MUA

Timing

Always book enough time for cancelations and room for errors. My initial flight was the day before the event but it got cancelled, so I actually ended up traveling the morning of the event.

Condensing

If you are a traveling makeup artist or hairstylist, you know the importance of condensing your kit. If you don’t, your kit will easily get out of control, weigh 90lbs and no one wants to carry those over weight bags or pay the fees!

Extra batteries

Seriously OVER pack batteries and extra SD cards. The time flies and if you are shooting ALL day, you need all the extras.

Clothing

Wear functional clothing. Layers and comfortable shoes!

And remember…

YOU CAN NEVER GET TOO MUCH CONTENT.

I hope you enjoyed these behind the scene clips from my work trip <3
