Dan’s Playbook of Thoughts – He Gone
It's another week and another group of random sports thoughts that I've been pondering about lately!
- The Green Bay Packers have officially moved on from Jaire Alexander. What a weird back and forth this was this offseason. Back in January it seemed like he was gone for sure. Then just a month ago it seemed like he was coming back. Now, he's gone. Ultimately, it was probably the right decision for both sides to separate from each other, because it seemed like there was some animosity between the two sides growing bigger and bigger the last couple of seasons.
- I hope Packers fans are not expecting the team now to spend a ton of cash on some new players now that Jaire is gone. Stop. They need to figure out extensions for some of their current players like Zach Tom and Quay Walker.
- The Brewers starting pitching staff has been hit with injuries all season long and are one of the teams in the majors that have used the most starting starting pitchers so far this season. Yet, they have the second best ERA in the National League and the fifth best in all of baseball. I thought they were doing pretty well considering the injuries, but even those numbers blew me away. That's a credit to the front office for identifying talent, but also pitching coach Chris Hook and assistant Jim Henderson for the fantastic job they have done.
- My latest Giannis O'Meeter.....I feel better than at any point he will be back in Milwaukee for at least another season with the Bucks. But if he's back for another season, I have to imagine it's with the idea for at least a couple more seasons, because the Bucks are absolutely planning for a gap year this upcoming season.
- The College World Series for baseball and softball are one of the most underrated sports events that needs to be talked about more. Fantastic games and I feel like every year they don't get the amount of coverage and media attention it deserves.
- Summer is meant for baseball. So get to Carson Park and enjoy being outdoors and watching America's Pastime.
- With that being said, the UW-Eau Claire men's basketball team looks STACKED for this season. I can't wait to see all the new talent the program has brought in.
I think I'm caught up for now! Check back in next time for some more random sports thoughts!
