Civil War History

The 2nd Minnesota Battery of Light Artillery, a Civil War re-enactment group, will be firing its vintage in at the Old Courthouse Museum and Jail in downtown Durand, WI on Tuesday, May 9.
This living history event will also include five learning stations about the life of a Civil War soldier, music, small arms and artifacts, the role of women during the war, the events that led up to the war, and the laundress/Soldier’s Aid Society. The various stations will be located on the courthouse lawn and in the upstairs courtroom.
The event is open to the general public free of charge from 2 to 4 pm. The Old Courthouse Museum will also be open to the public. This special education event is sponsored by the Pepin County Historical Society and the Old Courthouse Museum in Durand.
