Turtle Sundae/Ramone’s Ice Cream Parlor

Happy June Dairy Month! This, I love. I mean, an extra reason to drink milk, eat cheese, have ice cream…well, that dovetails perfectly with “Dessert Valley, Wisconsin.” So, all this month (and for however many future Junes I do this blog), I’m going to highlight dairy-related desserts from the Chippewa Valley.

I already mentioned the obvious one, and this may be the first of several related entries for: ice cream. Let’s go to Ramone’s for a sundae!

Ready to roll with the Turtle Sundae.

OK, technically I had this sundae in May, but I’ve been holding off talking about it until June to count. My wife had a hankering for a sundae, which immediately made me have a hankering for a sundae, and then I realized I’d never had a Ramone’s sundae, so we went and got two sundaes.

Yes, I got two — to share, but, still.

The Turtle Sundae at Ramone’s is the classic type: vanilla ice cream, topped with pecans, hot fudge, caramel, whipped cream, and a cherry on the top. It tasted marvelous; the best part was the notably creamy ice cream, living in that ideal zone between hard and liquid. This was a top-notch base of vanilla ice cream to make a top-notch sundae.

Onward to more dairy sweets for the month, but Ramone’s Ice Cream Parlor is as good a place as any to start your June swoon into dairy dessert delight.
