Shop Local This Christmas

As we start finishing up our last minute Christmas shopping this year I really want to take a moment to highlight some local businesses. Shopping local is so important to keep our community thriving. Here are some great places to grab gifts for your kids of any age.

For the Artist

Do you have a little artist in your home? Or maybe you have a teen who loves to hang art work up on their walls. Here are my favorite local businesses to get your kids art supplies or things to decorate their space.

• Mike’s Art & Design Supply located in Menomonie has all your art supply needs
• Tangled Up in Hue sells locally made items and a TON of wall art made by local artists. They also have Blue Boxer Arts located in the back which supplies beads, yarn and other jewelry and art supplies.

For the Gamer

Do you have a kid who loves gaming? Pokemon? Dungeons and dragons? Board Games? Here are my favorite places to grab cards and board games in the area.

• D20 Gaming in Eau Claire offers Magic the Gathering cards, Pokemon cards and Dungeons and Dragons dice, mini figures and other merchandise
• Game Quest Gaming in Menomonie has everything the gamer in your life needs. Video games. Board games. Card games like Magic and Pokemon and D&D merchandise.

 

For the Fashionista

Do you have a little one that loves fashion? Or maybe a teen who can’t get enough of vintage styles? Here’s my favorite vintage stores and kids boutiques in the area.

• Planette Kids is a child’s clothing boutique in downtown Eau Claire. They sell backpacks, toys and sizes infant to 14.
• Eau Claire Vintage is the perfect place for your vintage loving teen. Located in downtown Eau Claire this shop offers a curated selection of vintage clothing.
• That’s Adorable in downtown Eau Claire sells gently used children’s clothing and toys. Stay sustainable this season!

 

For the Active Kids

Do you have a child that loves snowboarding or biking? Here’s my favorite stores for outdoor activities.

• Stache Bike & Adventure is a local bike shop in Eau Claire can offer you bikes or snowboards. They also do bicycle repairs and snowboard and ski waxing and edge sharpening. This is where I got my first mountain bike as an adult and I’ve loved hitting the trails ever since.
• Chippewa Valley Sporting Goods has everything your little athlete needs. Baseball to basketball and everything in between.

For the Spooky Kids

Do you have kids that love Hot Topic? Do they love Halloween and anything spooky? Black Kettle Tea & Bootique in Eau Claire doesn’t only carry tea. They have a variety of horror themed merchandise and oddities every spooky lover enjoys. Also, the person who owns this place is pretty cool. I may be a little biased considering I own this place.
